 RE:                27th Annual Training Program

Registration forms, hotel information and a tentative agenda for the 2007 FEN Spring Conference Training Program have been sent to superintendents, chief negotiators, bargaining team members, school board members and other school district management personnel.  The conference will begin on the morning of May 16 and run through noon on May 18.  The location of the conference is the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, 100 North Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida.  The telephone number for hotel reservations is 1-866-536-8477.  The deadline for reservations to receive the conference rate is April 15, 2007.  The single/double rate is $120 per night, and you must identify yourself as a FEN conference participant to receive that rate. The group rate will be honored for three days before group arrival and three days after group departure based on availability.

The keynote speaker for this year’s training program will be humorist Bryan Townsend.  A variety of topics will be presented this year which will appeal to those new to the negotiations process as well as the more seasoned negotiator.  These topics include:  Basic Bargaining, Processing Grievances, Differentiated Pay, Workings of PERC, Fair Labor Standards Act, Progressive Discipline, Impasse, STAR and more.  The final session of the conference will feature a report on the 2007 Legislation by Representative Joe Pickens, Dr. Wayne Blanton and staff.
